Holy Cross Elementary School is now closed. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our staff, pupils and parents for their assistance and dedication to the education of the students of the West End over the last 100 years. In future K-6 students from the area will be attending St Teresa’s elementary school (http://www.stsnl.ca). Please contact Mike Tobin, principal, with any questions regarding enrolment or bussing @ 579 9111

Booth Weapon Incident – Secure School
Neighbouring Schools Notification
June 17, 2014
I would like to take a few moments to apprise you of a situation at our school today.
This morning our school enacted its secure school protocol on the advice of the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary due to an incident at a neighbouring school, potentially involving a weapon.
Shortly after enacting this protocol, a suspect was apprehended by the RNC and our secure school was lifted. Students have returned to their regular day and are safe.
If you have any questions about this incident please do not hesitate to contact the school’s administration.
Huge thanks goes out to Ms. Brenda, Ms. Maher (and her mum and friends), Ms. Hare, Mr. Fennemore and everyone else who helped us to round off the breakfast year in fantastic style this morning! Anyone for bacon??

Online registration for students entering Kindergarten in September 2015 will be available on May 28th and 29th from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. For the 2015-16 school year, children must be five years of age on or before December 31, 2015 to register. Parents can register by visiting the Newfoundland and Labrador English School District website at www.nlesd.ca and following the “Kindergarten Registration” link.
We were fortunate enough to have a few of our students pop down to do some professional photographs for the new joint school website. They were absolute stars! Here’s a sneak peak!
Just a reminder that we have a special open school council meeting tomorrow at 6:30 in the library. This is a wonderful opportunity for us to share some of the plans for the transition to the new school and to answer any questions that parents may have. District representatives will be there to answer any questions. We look forward to welcoming anyone who wishes to come.
Yesterday our Kindergarten and Grade 3 students were lucky enough to spend the morning at The Rooms learning all about culture – don’t they look sharp in their uniforms!
Our students had a blast this Thursday at our Winter Fun Day!
